Robert Peter Williams, born on 13 February 1974, is an English singer and songwriter. He gained fame as a member of the pop group Take That from 1990 to 1995. Williams launched a solo career in 1996, releasing his debut studio album, Life thru a Lens, in 1997, which included the single 'Angels'. His second album, I've Been Expecting You, featured the singles 'Millennium' and 'She's the One', which reached number one in the UK. His discography comprises seven UK number-one singles and 14 studio albums, all but one of which reached number one in the UK. Six of his albums rank among the top 100 biggest-selling albums in the country, with two in the top 60. In 2006, he set a Guinness World Record for selling 1.6 million tickets in a single day during his Close Encounters Tour. Williams has received 18 Brit Awards, including four for Best British Male Artist, two for Outstanding Contribution to Music, and an Icon Award. He has also won eight German ECHO Awards and three MTV European Music Awards.
