'4Æm' samples a Bollywood song and reimagines it as a cyberpunk piece. The track locks into a hypnotic loop, Grimes repeating the same four-line structure across its length: a late-night conversation that circles back on itself, each exchange identical yet somehow more worn. There is a fatalism to it, a sense of someone moving through the same moment repeatedly, doubt and indifference settling in at the edges. The song sits within a larger narrative framework. Grimes has described each track on the album as embodying a different deity or force, and '4Æm' represents the Goddess of Simulation. That mythological framing colours the repetition; the loop becomes less a pop hook and more a glitch in some vast system, a conversation caught between cycles. The production keeps the arrangement spare, letting the vocal pattern do the work, building its weight through sheer persistence rather than accumulation.
"4Æm" is a single by Grimes, from the album Miss Anthropocene, released 24th October 2019. The track is 4:31 long. It's filed under Electronic. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 6 articles about Grimes.

Released in November 2020, Marika Hackman’s ‘Covers’ found a route around the blank page: ten songs she already knew well, rebuilt at home with a drum machine, sparse production and room for experimentation.

A leaked track called 'Witch v Witch' has both artists piecing together a session in LA.

The record is 'not quite done' but AI remains a central theme.

Grimes has addressed the long wait for her follow-up to most recent album 'Miss Anthropocene', tweeting about the difficulties of fame and notoriety.

There's a video featuring BLACKPINK's Jennie too.
