About Idlewild

Idlewild is a Scottish indie rock band formed in Edinburgh in 1995. The band’s lineup includes Roddy Woomble (lead vocals), Rod Jones (guitar, backing vocals), Colin Newton (drums), Andrew Mitchell (bass), and Luciano Rossi (keyboards). Former core member Allan Stewart (guitar) has also performed with the band during live shows. They have released ten studio albums. Their early sound was characterized by a faster, more dissonant style, which evolved into a melodic rock sound in later albums such as The Remote Part and Warnings/Promises. The band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2010 but reunited in late 2013 to record their seventh album, Everything Ever Written, released in 2015. They followed with Interview Music in 2019. Their tenth studio album, Idlewild, was released on October 3, 2025, and reached number sixteen on the UK Albums Chart.
