About This Track

'Assassin' by Muse is an alternative track from the album 'Black Holes and Revelations' (2006). The lyrics set out a conspiratorial, insurgent pitch, urging action against leaders and describing underground coalition-building, with an atmosphere of escalating urgency. A repeated sense of losing control runs alongside the line about war arriving, while the later phrases turn more menacingly towards intent to erase what “they” say. The overall effect is confrontational and paranoid, as if the speaker is trying to outpace consequence.
