Tame Impala is an Australian psychedelic music project led by Kevin Parker. Parker writes, records, performs, and produces all of the project's music in the studio. As a live act, Tame Impala includes Parker on vocals, guitar, and synthesiser, along with Dominic Simper, Jay Watson, Cam Avery, Julien Barbagallo, and James Ireland. The group has a close association with the Australian band Pond, sharing members and collaborators such as Watson, Ireland, and Nick Allbrook. Originally signed to Modular Recordings, Tame Impala is currently signed to Interscope Records in the United States and Fiction Records in the United Kingdom. Parker conceived the project in Perth in 2007. After releasing a series of singles and EPs, Tame Impala's debut album, Innerspeaker, was released in 2010 and was certified gold in Australia. Its follow-up, Lonerism, released in 2012, received critical acclaim, reached platinum status in Australia, and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.
