KuleeAngee’s ‘Love & Affection’ arrives with a pretty great story. Duncan Grant and Keshav Kanabar first bonded in the queue for Dalston Superstore, later turning late-night escapades and session-musician chemistry into a run of fizzy indie-dance tracks that want everybody in the room moving at once.
You can hear that instinct all over this EP as the Scottish duo throw together acid house grooves, wiry guitars and singalong hooks with the energy of mates taking over the playlist at a party. ‘You’re Fine, You’re High’ remains the standout, all whistling hooks and club-floor momentum, while ‘Pretty Love’ glides along on a bassline that feels purpose-built for festival season. ‘Daisies’ adds a little emotional wobble beneath all the euphoria, tackling digital disconnection without dragging the pace into gloom.
At times, the EP can blur into one sugary rush, with a few melodies slipping past almost as soon as they arrive. Still, KuleeAngee sound like they’re having a brilliant time making this record, and that feeling is hard to resist. There’s enough joy packed into these tracks to make ‘Love & Affection’ a very easy companion for summer nights.
